So I was 14 years old when I was diagnosed with a genetic condition called Cavernoma. That’s not even where the story began. But the story is long enough without starting from the beginning!!

Between age 14 – 30 I suffered Six strokes. The last two were less than a year apart and included losing 50% of my vision, many months of rehab to get my arm moving again, trying to walk at least with a little bit of grace (still mastering that one lol). But mostly learning how to manoeuvre life with this new body.

Stroke can leave you tired, confused, scared, depressed and anxious. You have no idea how to restart life, you don’t want things to change. You want life to be normal again. You want so, so desperately for everything to be how it was. I’m sorry to have to say this, but life will not be the same as it was before. With a few changes, a bit of focus, maybe a new way of thinking and a new direction. Your life could be even better than it was before.

This is the chance for something completely different, something you may or may not of dreamed of.

            This is life after stroke

This is the start of your new normal…
